The Prestige Poster

Christian Bale The guys over at AICN posted the one sheet for The Prestige online. I have been a little slow to post it as I was waiting to see confirmation elsewhere that it was the final poster. I have to admit I was hoping it wasn't. I really don't like it. The "smoke and mirrors" magic theme seems like a bad 80's flash back. The poster for The Illusionist, seems more creative to me. I think, The Prestige might have been hampered by the fact that there were a number of faces to work into the poster, whilst The Illusionist one sheet only features Ed Norton. That said I'm sure The Prestige is going to be a great film, the one sheet doesn't impact that!

Ahead of Harsh Times opening in UK cinemas tomorrow, the british film magazine, Empire has an interview with Christian Bale. He also mentions The Dark Knight and The Prestige. He has been a busy guy! Click here

Timeout have a podcast about the film and about 4 minutes in, you can hear Christian Bale talking about the film. There is also a clip at the end

The Hollywood news have a Q&A with Christian Bale here

Film Focus have the rest of the interview they previewed last week over here

Also there are reviews of the movie coming out - I am in two minds about posting them, because I know that the majority of you live in countries (like me) where the film is yet to open. What do you think do people want me to include reviews or just the film publicity? -- Maree

Not Again!

The US release date for Harsh Times has moved again! It is now scheduled for Nov 10th. Hopefully, this decision has been made so as to give Christian Bale a chance of award season recognition for his role rather than because Bauer Martinez couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery!

Rescue Dawn World Premiere

Christian Bale film Rescue Dawn
Rescue Dawn's world premiere will be at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it will be shown as part of the Masters programme. If you are lucky enough to be attending check the festival site for further details closer to the time. Still no word on when we will see a wider release or a DVD but hopefully it's a step in the right direction and we will at least get to read some reviews and feedback on what the film is like.

Christian Bale's next project

Christian Bale is reportedly close to joining the cast of the James Mangold project 3:10 to Yuma. The movie will be a remake of the 1957 western of the same name, that starred Glenn Ford as an outlaw who is being held by a rancher, in a hotel room while awaiting the 3:10 train to Yuma, where the outlaw will be tried. Russell Crowe is already attached to play Ben Wade, Glenn Ford's outlaw role. This suggests that Christian Bale will be cast as Dan Evans, the Rancher who was played by Van Heflin in the original.

The original film's tagline was "The Lonesome Whistle of a Train... bringing the gallows closer to a desperado--the showdown nearer to his captor!" Russell Crowe is a great actor for Christian Bale to work with and I have always wanted to see him in the western genre! This is a very very enticing prospect. Here's hoping it happens!
