The Departed Release date + pics

William Monahan who wrote the screenplay for the Departed has commented that The Departed will be released on his birthday which is Nov 3. Warner Bros have not confirmed this but they have indicated the release is due in November. We will update you if we hear anything further! I found a few thumbnails of Jack on The Departed set which can be viewed by clicking here. Lou over at The Totally Unnecessary Departed Forum has posted a great new picture of Jack which originates from the book "Conversations with Martin Scorsese" which was published Nov 2005, click here to view. If you are looking forward to The Departed as much as we are and want to discuss it we recommend The Totally Unnecessary Departed Board!

The Passenger on DVD out today!

The Passenger is finally out on DVD today! The DVD will feature Antonioni's preferred cut, which means it is the 7 minute longer european version of the film, rather than the american version. The DVD includes commentary by Jack Nicholson and reviews have praised Jack's commentary for relaying many interesting anecdotes. To view the DVD menus and a detailed comparison between the Imagica version of the Passenger which was sold through ebay and the new version released today by Sony please click here. To read the Hollywood Reporter review which includes a couple of quotes from the commentary click here and for more DVD technical and purchasing info click here

Housekeeping

You may notice a couple of small changes to the site. If you browse with Firefox, I have fixed the articles section so that you can read it! I have made the news page the main page for the site to simplify things, so please change your bookmarks if you had jnnews.html marked. Thanks!

Video Clips

To celebrate Jack's 69th birthday we thought we would put up some clips of memorable moments from his career. We have the campfire scene from Easyrider (including Dennis Hopper's commentary), the court room scene from A Few Good Men where Jack made famous the "You can't handle the truth" line, also from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest we have the "imaginary" world series and last but not least "Heeeere's Johnny!" from The Shining. Click on an image below to view the video. Also for anyone who had a problem viewing the Cry Baby Killer Trailer, we have fixed the problem and it's working fine again now!

1988 Timeout Magazine Issues

As mentioned, here are the two issues of Timeout Magazine from 1988 that featured Jack Nicholson! The March Issue includes an interesting look at Ironweed. Jack played Francis Phelan and was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for the role. Sadly, this movie has never had a DVD release and is extremely hard to find now. We have seen the VHS version and will keep you posted if we hear of a DVD release ever happening, we can but hope! The May issue of Timeout includes Hector Babenco and George Miller talking about Jack and their impressions after working with him on Ironweed and The Wiches of Eastwick, respectively. We'll be back with more "goodies" to celebrate Jack's Birthday later -- JNO

The Passenger DVD out April 25th

The highly anticipated and slightly delayed release of The Passenger DVD has been confirmed for April 25th! IGN have done a detailed review and included some captures of the DVD you can view it here. I will make some additional captures from the DVD as soon as I have a copy. As I am importing it from the US this will probably not be until the middle of May. I can't wait! I'm really looking forward to seeing this!

Well we have been having quite the saga behind the scenes with the site. Last month, as some of you may realise, we ran out of bandwidth and had to temporarily move the whole site to a different address, so as to stay online for the last 10 days of the month. We then moved it back, but we needed to find a new place for the site to live permanently with more bandwidth. We have found a new host/server and this weekend we moved - again! Now that we have all of that sorted we can focus on creating more content for the site again! I'll have more updates to post tomorrow - Sara

Here are some great photos of Jack Nicholson from the last year that have been sent to us by one of Jack's many fans! Thank you! The first photos are from the Jack Nicholson and Rudy Durand Celebrity Golf Classic which was held to benefit the Painted Turtle Charity. There are also photos of Jack from the Shelter from the Storm fundraiser to benefit those affected by Hurricane Katrina and also a few photos of Jack from the Premiere of the Interpreter which starred his good friend Sean Penn.
